Secret Spots: Kingfisher Creek

Even after 7 years living at the windmill, Fadagosa is still serving us up some beautiful surprises and secret places. During the storms in February, the river rose very high and when it receded the shape of some of the river banks had changed dramatically. Whilst exploring these changes we found this secluded and sheltered spot, and we set up a hammock and chairs here. It is the perfect place to while away a hot day, reading a book, having a paddle or watching nature go by. We soon realised we were not the only ones here! If you come here on a sunny day, you are guaranteed to see one or two turtles sunbathing on their favourite rock. You will also see one (so far, we've spotted at least 3 different ones!) of the kingfishers darting across the surface of the river, or resting on a branch. And if you are lucky, and if the kingfisher is lucky too, you will see him diving for a fish. It really is a magical place and we never fail to be delighted by the sight of the neon blue kingfisher swooping or the turtles swimming.

Kingfisher Creek is less than five minutes walk from the mill, and guests will receive a map reference to find it. After all, we want to keep it just between us, OK? Shhhhhh...
