Russell the Rooster has been a great addition to the windmill team. We were unsure of whether a cockerel was a good idea, because we know that guests enjoy lazy starts to the day when they are here and we were not sure how loud his wake-up alarm would be. We are happy to report that his cocka-doodle-do cannot be heard from the windmill, so he can cock-a-doodle-continue to his heart’s content, The hens love Russell and they have all gained a lot of confidence since his arrival. Russell and his harem wander far and wide, and are frequently seen pecking around the windmill. And of course, one of the benefits of having a rooster is the arrival of chicks! It was a week after the baby goats were born that our first bunch of chicks hatched.
